ENGINE has been designed as a distributed IN architecture. The two main components are the ENGINE core and the network interface function or “NIF”.
The ENGINE NIF is installed on the operator network and communicates to the ENGINE core via IP. This means that the ENGINE core can be located anywhere within an acceptable IP round trip time. A single ENGINE core can support multiple NIFs and can therefore support multiple operator networks on a single server.
As a result we can offer a remote hosted service based on ENGINE. This gives you access to our applications even if you do not feel that you can justify your own ENGINE platform. You can also use a managed service to test out an application prior to rolling it out permanently.
ENGINE represents an ideal solution for group operators. It allows equipment and skills to be centralised, saving considerable cost. It also gives groups control and the ability to roll out the same version of software across multiple operators simultaneously.
