New Dialled Number Correction Service to Boost Roaming Revenues Jan 25th 2011
Evolved Intelligence, the network applications company, has launched a new dialled number correction, or Virtual Home Environment (VHE), to help roaming subscribers make more successful calls. The service automatically corrects numbers dialled without country access codes. It also translates short code numbers to allow easy access to home services such as voice mail.
According to Evolved Intelligence the VHE service can make a great difference to the number of calls made by roamers. Says Robin Burton, Head of marketing at Evolved Intelligence: “Research shows that anything up to 40% of roamers make no calls whatsoever. 6% of dialled calls are not completed. Our service directly addresses these issues. In particular by making it easy to access voice mail, more calls are stimulated. Often these are international calls. Studies suggest that the overall effect of implementing this service may be as much as a 20 to 30% uplift in usage depending on the profile of the roamers themselves.”
The system is available for both inbound and outbound roaming. It also has a number of key technical advantages which boost the value that it delivers. Says Nick Jones, Evolved Intelligence CTO: “Because of our architectural approach to the implementation of this service, we also provide support for pre-paid as well as post-paid roamers. This is highly valuable because pre-paid roamers are usually less experienced and therefore will benefit more from the service. The service can also provide support for inbound post-paid roamers without needing CAMEL to be implemented in their home network.”
The VHE service is available as a remote managed service. This uses a “network interface function” fitted to the network which communicates with an Evolved Intelligence data centre via IP. Alternatively the service can be provided on an in house, open standard, turnkey system.
